With spring training officially just under a month away, we continue with a series of projections on what the 2012 Toronto Blue Jays might look like. Each day (don’t hold me to this), I will profile a 2012 Blue Jays starter, closing with a set of numbers based on my (usually positive) expectations. Today, we’ll focus on the underdog in the competition in left field heading into the 2012 season, Travis Snider.
If Eric Thames’ 2011 season was about getting the opportunity and running with it, I suppose it’s only fair to say that Travis Snider’s season was about dropping the ball and failing to find it afterwards. 2011 was supposed to be different for Snider, after a 2010 season that was sidelined by injury. There was a new manager in town, and the team was committed to let him man left field coming out of spring training. Yet, just 25 games into another slow start, the Blue Jays had decided that it wouldn’t be in the best interest of the team and player t...

Jays Make Cordero Signing, Budget Bullpen Official
GM Alex Anthopoulos and the Blue Jays have made their deal with former Reds, Brewers, and Rangers closer Francisco Cordero — to a one-year deal worth $4.5 million — official, according to reports Jon Heyman of CBS.
A successful high-leverage reliever at one point, who struck out more than 25% of batters faced every season between 2003 and 2008, Cordero’s velocity...
Jose Bautista Lands On Cover Of MLB 12: The Show
Somebody over at SCEA (presumbly a Blue Jays fan) clearly recognized the mistake they initially made when Adrian Gonzalez was selected as the cover athlete for Sony’s upcoming MLB 12: The Show; while it’s probably a little too late to change things for everyone, the company have at done their part to make good to Canadian baseball fans who also happen to game. Jose...
Montero or Lawrie?
Jeff Blair of the Toronto Globe and Mail had an interesting note in his column today, noting that there’s speculation in Toronto that the Mariners offered Michael Pineda to the Blue Jays in exchange for Brett Lawrie. They passed, and as we all know, the Mariners shipped Pineda to New York for Jesus Montero instead.
So, this brings up an interesting question – who is the...

Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista insists he has been tested 16 times for performance-enhancing substances during the past two years and maintains reports to the contrary are false.
Would Mariners have tried to land Brett Lawrie instead of Jesus Montero? You betcha
Interesting report out of Toronto from old buddy Jeff Blair, who I used to work with all the way back in Montreal days in the early 1990s. Blair is pretty plugged in when it comes to the Blue Jays and their ownership, so I believe him when he says that the Mariners first tried to trade Michael Pineda to Toronto for third baseman Brett Lawrie.
The Blue Jays are said to have declined...
