Found November 09, 2008 on Dom D's Mets Fan Blog:
The Mets have a minor void in left field. They can opt to turn David Murphy/Nick Evans combo if they want. They can also sign Juan Rivera, who is a Minaya favorite...Nobody has talked about Pat Burrell, who seems he will out casted after winning a World Championship....Should the Mets sign this Mets killer???

New Phillies' GM Ruben Amaro has said that he would like to spend money on his pitching staff and that don't mean Pat Burrell. The Phillies have also discussed Matt Holliday to replace Burrell.

I know the Mets won't be spending big bucks on the offense (as Omar has pointed out), but Burrell might come cheaper, just to be a thorn in the Phillies' side.

Pat Burrell's last 3 years:

Last 3 years Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 2006 PHI 144 462 80 119 24 1 29 95 98 131 0 0 .258 .388 .502 .890 2007 PHI 155 472 77 121 26 0 30 97 114 120 0 0 .256 .400 .502 .902 2008 PHI 157 536 74 134 33 3 33 86 102 136 0 0 .250 .367 .507 .875 Career 1306 4535 655 1166 253 14 251 827 785 1273 5 1 .257 .367 .485 .852
He is defensively challenged, but he is a right handed bat that can hit lefties. He has a decent OBP. I don't think the Mets should go after him, but it has been a great debate with friends and fans alike...
