Found March 15, 2009 on Dom D's Mets Fan Blog:
The Mets have a more room for competition for the 5th starter spot , now that Tim Redding has gone down with shoulder fatigue. You would figure that Pedro's name may have some consideration.

According to Jon Heyman of SI, the Mets may have interest in signing the 37 year old pitcher. "The Indians, Pirates and Mets, who have long had interest in Cooperstown-bound pitcher Pedro Martinez, have been joined by the Dodgers. And according to Martinez's agent Fern Cuza, a couple more additional teams have recently entered the mix."

Pedro Martinez has pitched in the WBC : in 2 games he pitched 6 innings, gave up1 hit , while striking out 6.

I know he looked really good in the WBC in limited duty and showed he can still baffle opposing batters, but does that mean the Mets should sign Pedro??.. I know he is a veteran presence inside the locker room and many of the younger players like Jose Reyes look up to him.

Maybe he can show flashes of his past.

If the Mets can get him for a small base salary and incentive laced contract, why not?

It can't hurt, hopefully he don't get hurt..
