Some may consider this article pointless due to the lack of value that Josh Thole has brought to the team with the exception of perhaps indirectly a Cy Young Award. However, in some ways, he did have a few great moments that will always hold a special place in many Mets fans’ hearts. My father, in my opinion, stated the exact definition of him: “that catcher who seems to drop everything.”
June 8th 2005:
This the day that I will judge Omar Minaya by – not all the pointless signings, but this draft day. The day that numerous Mets core players past and present were drafted: Mike Pelfrey, Jonathan Niese, Bobby Parnell, Pedro Beato, Jeremy Hefner – yes, I’m aware he was later drafted by the Padres – and Thole. He would also make his debut for the GCL Mets later that season.
He would play for Kingsport in 2006 and finish with underwhelming numbers: 1 HR 12 RBI .606 OPS. In 2007, he actually made the jump to St. Lucie and finished with somewhat impressive numbers for a sla...

During an interview with the Dan Patrick Show, all Matt Harvey wanted to talk about was cell phone company Qualcomm. Here's the video and reactions from Twitter.
Tonight Zack Wheeler takes on the team that drafted him for the second time this season. The first time the 23-year old faced the Giants, he was publicized as the “Robin” to the leading Cy-Young candidate and NL All-Star Game Starter Matt Harvey; perhaps unfairly so.
Since that initial outing at AT&T against his former franchise; much has changed. Harvey and a pitching rubber...
Terry Collins announced that Ruben Tejada suffered a broken right fibula, and will miss the remainder of the season.
Tejada injured his leg while hustling to catch an Angel Pagan pop-up in shallow left field and colliding with outfielder Andrew Brown with one out in the top of the ninth.
Tejada tripped over the sliding Brown, landed hard, and was slow to get up. He went back...
Yesterday, Matt Harvey returned from seeing Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Florida to get that second opinion on the partial UCL tear in his right elbow. However, nobody was talking afterward. Instead, the Mets released this short and somewhat ominous statement:
Matt Harvey saw Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla. today for a second opinion on his right elbow. Harvey is on his...
The New York Mets suffered a tough blow last night. Shortstop Ruben Tejada was diagnosed with a fractured right fibula. He had injured himself while getting tangled up with a teammate. Tejada will, of course, miss the rest of the season.
Right fibula broken for Tejada. Wow.

Matt Harvey will try to rehab his injured right elbow without reconstructive surgery, a move the young ace hopes is going to keep him on the mound for the New York Mets next season.
Tommy John surgery remains a possibility. Harvey will soon begin a strengthening and throwing program designed to last as long as six to eight weeks. If he feels pain or other symptoms that hinder his...

The Toronto Blue Jays hold a $750,000 option on infielder Mark DeRosa for 2014. While the Blue Jays are expected to pick up the option it all appears depended on whether or not the 38-year-old wants to return.
“To be honest with you, this season has been fun, it’s been a grind. … But I really just want to get away for a minute...
Yankees radio play-by-play man John Sterling wanted Alex Rodriguez to hit his 654th career home run so badly Tuesday night. He tried to talk the ball over the right field wall at Rogers Centre, but Blue Jays right fielder Rajai Davis had other ideas. A-Rod hit a ball deep to right and Sterling, assuming it was hit hard enough to be gone, went ahead with his usual “It is high...
The Toronto Blue Jays don't seem to be taking any chances with their players of late, as reliever Brett Cecil became the third player this month to get officially shut down for the season. Cecil's elbow is the cause, although as MLB.com's Gregor Chisholm found, the exact nature of the injury is not clear. After experiencing pain in the elbow, the left-hander was expecting...
The best news to come out of this past week in the Mets minor league system was the Savannah Sand Gnats capturing their first SAL Championship since 1996. The only bad news about that? Mets Minors has officially closed the book on the 2013 season, looking ahead to 2014. Don’t worry though, we’ll be rolling out some solid and constant content to keep you occupied while the weather...

New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey gave an incredibly uncomfortable injury to Dan Patrick on Wednesday. It was so bad I was literally cringing while listening to it in the same way I cringe when watching that scene in “Swingers” where Mike calls Nikki and leaves like eight straight messages. It was that painful. Harvey […]
Last week, Jon Heyman posted a list of his Top Free Agent Signings based on impact per dollar. Both Marlon Byrd, No. 10, and LaTroy Hawkins, No. 25, made the cut for the Mets. Here are the best of the best, as he calls them, of the free-agent pickups for the 2013 season, ranked in order of impact per dollars:

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will be in the Mets' broadcast booth on SNY for the team's game on Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants. Seinfeld will join Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, Ron Darling, and Bobby Ojeda in the booth, and according to Hernandez, there's not going to be any holding back.
“We just let him run, because he’s funny,” says Hernandez. “People...
