According to several sources, such as Geoff Baker - Seattle Times, Jerry Crasnick - ESPN and John Hickey - Seattle Post Intellignecer are reporting that Ken Griffey Jr. has decided to sign with the Seattle Mariners. Griffey was debating whether to play with the Mariners or the Braves. Tonight, it is clear he wants to be a Mariner.As late as Monday night, he was at home, considering his options. Tuesday morning came the word he was going to Atlanta -- except that Griffey was quick to deny that any decision had been made. The news went quiet until Wednesday, when the Griffey camp said it would be Seattle. His one-year contract is expected to be in the range of about $2 million and to be heavily laden with incentive clauses tied both to attendance and plate appearances or games played.Griffey started his career in 1989 with the Seattle Mariners.
