The Dodgers have signed 33-year old switch-hitting catcher Josh Bard to a 1-year deal. Bard played in 26 games for the Mariners last year and he was 17 for 81 (.210 avg, .589 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 2 homers and 11 RBIs. Bard has now played in 586 games in his first 10 years in the majors and he is 452 of 1,778 (.254 avg, .705 OPS) with 162 runs scored, 39 homers, 220 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Bard will have a shot to win a job with the Dodgers next spring. Heck, he could even be the next starting catcher of the Dodgers.
