Philly Buster:
Recently, news came out that reserve first baseman Ross Gload has been playing with a hip tear. Gload says he will play through the pain because he doesn’t want to have season-ending surgery.
Unfortunately, Gload is becoming a liability to the team. He’s a great pinch-hitter who leads the major leagues with eight pinch-hits, but he can’t physically play the field because of his injury. The other day he singled in the ninth inning and was pinch-ran for by Kyle Kendrick.
Gload has been reduced to a singles hitter who can’t run or play the field. He is hitting .282 but with just a .282 slugging percentage – all singles.
It’s time for the Phillies to put him on the DL. If his hip can heal, great. If not, then season-ending surgery is necessary.
