To celebrate their mathematical elimination, the Bucs had today off (it was also Labor Day, or something). There are a few minor notes to point out, though:---It's September 1st, meaning the Pirates can add anyone on the 40-man roster to the ballclub for the rest of the year. No announcements have been made yet because Indianapolis had its last game today, but [Pirates.com] speculates as to who will join the team. Hansen and Beam will for sure, along with Steve Pearce and Brian Bixler. Ross Ohlendorf will probably be the only new guy we see, since neither Dan (who dominated today) nor Andrew McCutchen is part of the 40-man roster. Huntington says they will play over the winter and compete for jobs next spring. I'd love to get a look at them, but it's probably the right call.
