The 'Right now every MLB team has a shot at the World Series' quiz

Hope springs eternal across the MLB landscape with spring training now in full swing and there is no better reminder of that than this: the Chicago Cubs are currently the defending world champs.

One player from last year's Cubs team who won't be coming to spring training this year is David Ross, the backup catcher turned fan favorite who became a full-on pop culture phenomenon in the offseason. Hard to imagine anyone on any championship team having more of a meteoric rise than Ross has over the last few months. A reminder of how Ross has kept busy in that time:

All told, not a bad stretch for a career .229 hitter.

That all said, the Cubs' World Series win and Ross's rise would not have been possible without someone to steer the ship. The chess match between Joe Maddon and Terry Francona played a pivotal role in last year's World Series, with Maddon's strategy and vision ultimately coming out ahead — which leads us into today's quiz.

A manager is the off-field leader of a baseball team. He is a statistician, strategist, general, alchemist, psychologist, mentor, friend. A good manager can be the difference for a team winning when it counts or falling apart. Can you name the last manager to lead each MLB team to win the American or National League Championship pennant?

Note: The Seattle Mariners and the Washington Nationals have not won the pennant in their respective franchise histories.

Clue: Team-Year

QUIZ: Name the last manager to lead each MLB team to a pennant
