It's still very early in camp but you'd have to be the ultimate optimist not to be worried about the Starting rotation. What was perceived to be a strength of the team, has suddenly looked very shaky outside of Johan Santana.Mike Pelfrey looked good in his return to the mound but even after the outing he mentioned still feeling the discomfort in the back of his leg. Just as Johan was watched cautiously for several starts after the elbow stiffness so will Big Pelf. He's only pitched seven innings so far this spring but has posted a respectable 3.86 ERA. Whether it's over thinking, rust from the lay off or recovery from the surgery, John Maine has looked totally out of sync. Just maybe in the second half of his last start he was finally hitting his stride as he struck out five. Maine has three starts ( 9 innings) with an ERA of 10.00, he's allowed 10 runs on 11 hits and four walks. He's playing for Mexico so it isn't getting noticed as much but Ollie Perez...
