We’re two nights away from the World Series between the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals, but before we preview the Fall Classic, let’s take a look back at the regular season, specifically batting orders.
The goal is to create an ideal batting order, but here’s the twist – instead of selecting nine perennial all-stars and slotting them anywhere in the lineup, selecting players in the spot that they hit for their big league team.
On base percentage was a heavy determinant in selection.

Verducci’s original article can be found here: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1110513/1/index.htm
For a player to be eligible for a spot in the batting order, he must have led his team in at bats in that spot this season.
Stats listed are total stats from this season.
