St. Louis is going nuts for the Rally Squirrel. The team plans to distribute 40,000 rally towels for Game 3 of the NL championship series tonight against Milwaukee. In addition, they are selling stuffed Rally Squirrels for $5 at the Busch Stadium team store, along with “Got Squirrel” T-shirts and additional rally towels…Here’s an idea, how about promoting the Machine…Why is it a squirrel is more popular than Pujols right now. -TO

ST. LOUIS - An impressive game from Albert Pujols shouldn't come as a surprise. What teammate David Freese continues to do is starting to become less of a shock as well.
Pujols had two hits and was on base four times and Freese continued a strong postseason with three more hits as the Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 4-3 in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series...
Cardinals second baseman Ryan Theriot had his difficulties both in the field and at bat on Thursday during a game he'd rather forget, one that the Brewers won to knot the NLCS at 2.
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Tony La Russa and the St. Louis Cardinals are going nuts for the Rally Squirrel.
On the day he pitches, Chris Carpenter can be an ornery cuss. He prowls the mound, barks at hitters, and on at least one occasion has been known to invite a basepath collision.
Though just an 11-game winner for the St. Louis Cardinals, the 36-year-old right-hander has been in dominating mode since midseason. Apparently in the Milwaukee Brewers' heads, too, heading into a matchup...

MLB Announced on Thursday that St. Louis Cardinal right fielder Lance Berkman and Boston Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury have won the Comeback Player of the Year award for their leagues.
Berkman was coming off a forgetful 2010 where he batted .248 and was traded from the only team he ever played for. Things didn’t get better after he joined the Yankees at the trade deadline...
ST. LOUIS -- Nobody on either side can quite figure out why Milwaukee Brewers All-Star starter Yovani Gallardo looks like a completely different pitcher against the St. Louis Cardinals.
"I can't explain it," Gallardo said.
But the Brewers ace, holder of a lifetime 53-34 record and a 3.52 ERA, seemingly transforms from a top of the rotation starter to someone Milwaukee...
One night after Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder stole the show, Albert Pujols helped the Cardinals even the National League Championship Series at a game apiece with a four-hit, five-RBI eruption in Game 2.
Tonight, Yovani Gallardo of the Brewers will face off against fake-ass Chris Carpenter of the Cardinals in a NLCS tied at one a piece. Gallardo isn't very good against the Cardinals, per a St. Louis newspaper and numbers. Meanwhile, Carpenter "has had hiccups" against the Brewers, per a Milwaukee newspaper and less damning numbers...
Lance Berkman of the St. Louis Cardinals and Jacoby Ellsbury of the Boston Red Sox are baseball's comeback players of the year.
Randy Wolf outfoxed the St. Louis Cardinals for seven innings to earn his first postseason win at age 35 in a 4-2 victory Thursday night.
