We can talk about ugly uniforms all we want, but one tradition that seems to stand in baseball is teams mixing green into their wardrobe on St Patrick's Day during Spring Training. Well, the Chicago White Sox mixed green into their uniforms on Friday for a promotion that the team was billing as "halfway to St Patrick's Day". A photo posted on the team's Twitter account shows you just how bad the unis are.

All the black on the jerseys and pants were replaced by green, including the caps and batting helmets. The black pinstripes on their unis were now green. The classic interlocking "SOX" on their jerseys? Also green. The names and numbers on the backs of the jerseys? Same deal. Even the stirrups that players wore were green.

This green effort was part of the White Sox Irish Heritage Night, a concept that pretty much every team trots out several times a year with a different nationality celebrated. But man, mixing green into those plain, dignified White Sox jerseys during the regular season? That's just a little much.
