Found August 29, 2013 on Red Hot Mama:
I didn’t hear about this until some 18 hours after it happened. When I did, I took a tour of the Reds blogs to see what reaction was. There was a whole lot of “everyone already knows about this” and “there’s nothing to say that hasn’t already been said.” I, as you may have noticed, have been busy with a life outside of baseball lately, though, and was actually looking for opinions, so clearly both those of those statements were dead wrong for me. If they were wrong for me, I figure they might be wrong for someone else, and I might as well pile on. Here are the offending tweets that BP was so up-in-arms about: Reds go from a hitter with a .320 OBP in the 2 hole to one with a .310 OBP — ctrent (@ctrent) August 28, 2013 and Phillips career slash line: .272/.320/.430. career slash in 2 spot: .277/.320/.424 — ctrent (@ctrent) August 28, 2013 You might say these are stupid tweets to get upset over. They aren’t exactly damning. Oooooh, Phillips has 0.010 lower OBP than Franzier. BFD. By ...

Video: Brandon Phillips unleashes tirade toward beat writer

Emotions were running high in Cincinnati's clubhouse before Wednesday's series finale against the Cardinals, and understandably so. The Reds were in danger of getting swept in humiliating fashion to their division rivals, and more importantly, losing more ground in the pursuit of first place. So, after Tuesday's 6-1 defeat to the hands of the Cardinals, All-Star second...

Brandon Phillips cussed out reporter

Brandon Phillips cussed out a Cincinnati reporter who questioned his move in the team's lineup to the number two spot.

National writer claims Brandon Phillips isn't only Reds player to rip reporter for criticism

Whether you like the man or not, what Brandon Phillips did before Wednesday's game against the Cardinals is really hard to defend. The Gold Glove second basemen disrupted an interview in the clubhouse and used an expletive-filled, verbal attack on Cincinnati Enquirer beat writer C. Trent Rosecrans after the latter sent out a pair of tweets about Phillips' on-base percentage...

Reds' Phillips verbally blasts beat reporter in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS -- Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips verbally blasted a beat reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer before Wednesday night's game against the Cardinals. With media crowded in the visiting manager's office for Dusty Baker's pre-game presser, Phillips came to the door and unleashed a profanity-laced tirade. Baker was in the process of discussing a shakeup of...

Brandon Phillips’ Outburst Very Unnecessary, Especially Since Reporter Made Valid Argument

Come on, Brandon Phillips. You’re better than that. Phillips is in the midst of another productive season and the Reds still have an outside chance of winning the National League Central. At the very least, Cincinnati should be able to secure one of the NL’s two wild card spots. So can someone explain why Phillips is concerned about a sportswriter pointing out the three-time...

Brandon Phillips Goes Off on Reporter Because of Tweet, Calls Him ‘Fat ‘ (Video)

Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips is one of the most engaged Twitter users among all of professional athletes. He apparently has rabbit ears on the old tweet machine, too. Phillips was none too pleased with a rather tame — yet critical — tweet from Cincinnati Enquire beat reporter C. Trent Rosecrans. The reporter brought up Phillips’ on-base percentage in a tweet...

Brandon Phillips Absolutely Rips Into Reds Beat Writer C. Trent Rosecrans

Brandon Phillips interrupted Dusty Baker’s pre-game pow-wow with the media today by going on a curse-laden tirade in the direction of Reds’ beat writer C. Trent Rosecrans. Apparently Rosecrans has been knocking Phillips’ ability to get on base and Dat Dude don’t take too kindly to that kind of libel. Here is a full transcript of Phillips’ rant: “Hey, Dusty. The (expletive...

Brandon Phillips insults reporter for pointing out his on-base percentage

Brandon Phillips is apparently quite sensitive about his on-base percentage and would prefer reporters don't tweet about it.  Before Wednesday's game versus the St. Louis Cardinals, the Cincinnati Reds second baseman barged into the media's interview with manager Dusty Baker to berate Cincinnati Enquirer beat writer C. Trent Rosecrans. Phillips didn't like that...

Reds move Phillips to 2nd in batting order

Brandon Phillips was moved to second in the batting order for the first time since opening day after tweeting, following approval by manager Dusty Baker, that it was time for a change. Before Wednesday night's game, Phillips yelled at a reporter for mentioning his .310 average with runners in scoring position over his 95 RBIs, which is among the National League leaders. The...

Brandon Phillips cusses out Reds reporter C. Trent Rosecrans

Brandon Phillips lashed out at Cincinnati Reds beat reporter C. Trent Rosecrans on Wednesday in response to the writer questioning the logic behind Phillips’ move in the batting order. Brandon Phillips curses out reporter; Dusty Baker finds it amusing

The Cincinnati Reds are knee deep into a pennant race, trailing the division leader St. Louis Cardinals by 3.5 games as we approach September. Manager Dusty Baker decided to make a lineup change, and move Brandon Phillips to the two-hole, and it was met with some skepticism by Cincinnati Enquirer’s C. Trent Rosecans, criticizing Phillips’ OBP:   Reds go from a hitter with a...

Jacoby Ellsbury’s Contract Situation, Brandon Phillips’ Blow-Up Bring Unconventional Attention to Pennant Races (Podcast)

September is almost upon us, which means the best month of baseball season is about to begin. Before the pennant races really heat up, a couple of controversies involving players on playoff contenders attracted attention away from the field. Yasiel Puig, who never seems to be far away from a headline, was benched by Dodgers manager Don Mattingly on Wednesday, just a few hours after...
