Cheating Antonio Margarito gets his comeuppance from Shane Mosley
The finding by the California Department of Justice that Antonio Margarito's hand wraps (the ones he almost used against Shane Mosley) were loaded leads me to write this column : Which cheaters in sports have let down fans the worst in recent memory?

Off the top of my head, here are the three worst cases I can think of :

3. Antonio Margarito : Believe it or not, with boxing's limited scope, the impact of Margarito's plaster of Paris case doesn't have the most severe impact. However, loaded hand wraps could have severely injured - or even killed - Shane Mosley, and he deserves to be on this list of shame.

Forget about his brutal knockout wins over Miguel Cotto and Kermit Cintron - I, like a few others, believe that Margarito was cheating in those fights, too. His whole rags-to-riches story is a lie.

2. Marion Jones : Jones had the entire world fooled by her steroid-enhanced speed, winning five medals (three gold, two bronze) at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. As the truth was being discovered, she chose to cover up her wrongs with more lies, and ended up serving six months in federal prison for perjury.

What's amazing is that she still hasn't come totally clean regarding her use of performance-enhancing drugs.

1. MLB Steroid Users : Major League Baseball superstars like Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Roger Clemens and Alex Rodriguez let down an entire generation. For example, the magical home run record-setting seasons of Bonds, McGwire and Sosa were faked.

With steroid use so pervasive, you wonder if you can even take baseball seriously anymore : If you want to take a look at the complete investigative findings into the matter, you can read the Mitchell Report at MLB's website.
