Not only did the Chicago Cubs smuggle Padres general manager Jed Hoyer out of San Diego, but they took his assistant with them as well.
Hoyer and his assistant Jason McLeod, who will become the new senior vice president of scouting and player development for the Cubs, have been planning on making their escape from the Padres ever since Hoyer's old pal Theo Epstein left the Boston Red Sox
to become the president of baseball operations on the north side of the windy city. Apparently they love a challenge.

When Ben Cherington was officially introduced Wednesday at Fenway Park, it was...

When the Nationals signed Jayson Werth to a seven-year contract last winter, we were told that what they’d really done, in addition to the more mundane achievement of finding a right fielder, was “change the culture.” The most important byproduct of the move wouldn’t necessarily be Werth’s...
Theo Epstein always planned to be on a 10-year plan with the Boston Red Sox, which he and some close to him assumed meant leaving the Red Sox after his 10th season as general manager when his contract was up next year – something he even discussed with his bosses when things were going well in Boston...
