The Pirates sured up their 2011 World Series Title Roster today with the claim of Brandon Wood, from the Los Angeles Angels. For whatever reason, the Angels didn't want to win the World Series this year, so they DFA'd Wood. The Pirates figured they hadn't won a World Series since 1979, so they'd go ahead and take it this year. Wood will join the team either tomorrow or Sunday, and then the Pirates will win the rest of their games. It's pretty obvious that Wood never really wanted to play for the Angels. In his 4+ seasons there, he hit below .200 just to get out of there. He really wanted to play for the Pirates, and since they were first on the waiver line this year, Wood demanded a DFA. He got just that, and now he's a proud member of the formerly worst team in baseball, which is now consequently the best team in baseball.
