Things I learned poking around Baseball-Reference on a Friday afternoon

Instead of being the most productive me I could be work-wise yesterday, I learned stuff. Stuff about baseball, that is. Stuff about baseball that was true on Friday afternoon, and hopefully hasn’t been too completely invalidated by the time this gets published and, dare I say, read. John Smoltz is not only 10th among active players in wins, he’s 18th in saves. I kind of knew this, but it’s still fun to realize he has more wins than Beckett, Lester, and Dice-K combined, plus more saves than Papelbon.
