The Yankees fired 3rd base coach Bobby Meachem and special pitching instructor Rich Monteleone yesterday. I saw the firing of Meachem coming, but not so much Monteleone. Meachem might be a very nice guy, but that doesn't make him a good third base coach. He would wave runners home when they didn't have a chance. At the same time, he also didn't send runners when they could have scored. Sometimes it seemed like he wasn't even paying attention, because the plays at the plate were horrendous. I thought it was a good move by the organization. Now the question is who do they get to replace him? I would guess Luis Sojo, but nothing is really happening as of yet. Rich Monteleone was a Yankees pitching instructor for the past four seasons. He served as a bullpen coach from 2002-04. I don't really have an idea who they have to replace him.
