I only got to listen to/watch two of the games in this Oakland series. And both were games the Rangers lost. Is that a message to me? I’m trying not to take it personally, Rangers.
I’m also trying not to feel deja vu. But the boys are making it really hard. This is feeling a lot like last September, when Texas slowly faded out of first place in a month that completely ripped out my heart. I really don’t want to go through that again. You’d think my expectations and emotions would be lower after last season, but … when it comes to my boys, I’m always all-in.
It would be nice if my boys decided to reward my loyalty. They did not do it in Oakland though. They were outscored 16-11. They needed to win this series to take the division lead and they simply could not get the job done.
I listened to today’s game while I was at work, and it didn’t start out well. Yu Darvish struggled early, giving up three runs in short order. I was pretty sure it was going to be a rough day. And it

The Texas Rangers have activated right-hander Alexi Ogando from the 15-day disabled list.
Texas also recalled right-hander Ross Wolf and outfielders Engel Beltre and Joey Butler from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, giving them 36 players on the active roster.
Ogando began his third DL stint of the season on Aug. 20 because of an inflamed nerve in his right shoulder. He threw a...
The Texas Rangers held shortstop Elvis Andrus out of the starting lineup for the second consecutive game yesterday as he continues to deal with stiffness in his lower back. While he's still dealing with the discomfort, Rangers manager Ron Washington told reporters -- including T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com -- that he's hoping to get Andrus back in the lineup today.
Elvis Andrus attempted to talk his way back into the Texas Rangers' starting lineup yesterday, but manager Ron Washington was having non of it. The skipper elected to give Andrus another day off which, combined with today's off-day, he's hoping allows the shortstop return at close to 100 percent, according to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com.
After missing the past several...
The A's and Texas Rangers went their separate ways Wednesday afternoon in the wake of Oakland's 11-4 win at the Coliseum knowing that nothing has been decided.
The promised land of the postseason in the American League West is completely up for grabs as it was on April 1. The caveat is that the other three teams in the division are non-qualifiers.
Both the A's and Rangers...
Martin Perez allowed one run in seven innings to win his sixth straight start and Mitch Moreland homered to move the Texas Rangers back into sole possession of first place in the AL West with a 4-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.
After falling into a tie for first with the A's when they lost the series opener, the Rangers bounced back behind another strong...
Major League Baseball has lost one of its greats. On September 3rd, 2013, from his home country of the Dominican Republic, 16 year MLB veteran Vladimir Guerrero has announced his retirement from the majors.
The 38 year old Guerrero, a native of the town Don Gregorio, Nizao, has stated that his retirement is due in part to a couple of injuries he has in his right knee, as well as...
After falling back a game behind the Rangers in the standings Tuesday night, the A’s whipped out their power bats Wednesday afternoon to put an exclamation point on regaining a tie for first place in the AL west.
Four home runs and another solid starting pitching effort lifted Oakland to their 80th victory of the season with an emphatic 11-4 win over division rival Texas.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Martin Perez allowed one run in seven innings to win his sixth straight start and Mitch Moreland homered to move the Texas Rangers back into sole possession of first place in the AL West with a 4-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.

There's something about Jarrod Parker's presence on the mound that is bringing out the best in the Oakland Athletics.
Especially against Yu Darvish and the Texas Rangers.
Parker got plenty of home-run help to pitch his way into Oakland's record book, and the surging A's pulled into a tie atop the American League West with Texas by overpowering the Rangers 11-4 on...
About a week and a half ago, we were discussing how it looked as if the Texas Rangers were starting to peak at the right time. It appeared the offense was finally catching up to their pitching staff and they had a three-game lead over the Oakland Athletics for first place in the American League West division. Fast forward to the beginning of September, and the story has changed...
The Texas Rangers fell to the Oakland Athletics Monday in an important game one of a three game series. This was a painstaking loss as Texas gave up sole possession of first place in the AL West and now shares that position with Oakland. There is no reason, at this point, to lose faith in the Rangers. This is just one game in an otherwise very successful winning streak. However,...
It seems a bit far-fetched to view Elvis Andrus as a trade target, but he fills a pressing need at shortstop and is a young under-control player for the future.
Sandy Alderson went on WFAN and talked to Mike Francesa yesterday and mentioned that it was like “pulling teeth” to get Ruben Tejada to do the little things to get better. And it’s very clear that Omar Quintanilla is...
Jose Fernandez‘s slider is as close to an impossible pitch as I’ve seen.
Here’s Jayson Werth as a frozen caveman thanks to a 57 mph eephus
Yu Darvish‘s slow curve is unfair at times.
Bruce Rondon. 103.
Chris Sale‘s slider. Still unhittable.
Ivan Nova with filthy stuff.
Justin Verlander can still touch 99.
