Photo from Matt Stone When David Ortiz hit that walk off home run last night, I think most people were reminded of every big hit he had during 2004. Last night, he drilled the first pitch he saw into the bullpen. True, he hasn't had a walk-off anything since July of 2010, according to the Boston Herald, but if you ask him, he'll tell you that pitchers stopped messing around and just didn't take anymore chances with him. But that's exactly what the Texas Rangers decided to do yesterday when they decided to do when they intentionally walked Dustin Pedroia to get to Papi. My question is "WHY?!?" He may not be as young as he used to be, but he's still a threat. As a Red Sox fan, I'm thankful for whoever made the choice, but as baseball fan, I'm thinking "Who's this stupid?" Whatever the reasoning (maybe a numbers play or match up) I'm glad since I'm a Sox fan above all else. The walk off embodied the new Red Sox "Never ...

I stand with Big Papi and the people of Boston – Julius — The...

Who doesn’t love this man? It’s how amazing how good David Ortiz has been for the Red Sox since they picked him up in 2003 after the Minnesota Twins RELEASED him! That last laser beam in the bottom of the 9th inning last night was Ortiz’s 10th career walk-off home run in a Red Sox uniform,  that’s 7th best all-time in baseball history, not counting the damage he has...

Recap: Papi's walkoff homer leads Red Sox past Texas

David Ortiz did it again. Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 9th, Jonny Gomes doubled off Michael Kirkman to lead off the inning for his fourth hit of the game. (Guess he likes batting second.) In a very perplexing move, the Rangers decided to walk Dustin Pedroia intentionally to set up a force out. Only problem was, David Ortiz, who is so clutch the Red Sox organization arbitrarily...

David Ortiz Thought Red Sox Signing Josh Hamilton ‘Was Going to Happen,’ Especially After Trade With Dodgers

The Red Sox brought in a number of free agents during the offseason. Josh Hamilton wasn’t one of them. Hamilton, considered the biggest offensive free agent on the open market this past offseason, ended up signing with the Angels, but it wasn’t before tons of speculation about whether or not the 2010 American League MVP would land in Boston. Even David Ortiz thought there was...

David Ortiz Unsure If He Would Participate in Home Run Derby, While Mike Napoli ‘Wouldn’t Enjoy’ Being in Contest

Participating in the Home Run Derby is often a risky endeavor. It’s all about thrilling the fans, but there have been multiple instances of players struggling after taking part in the midsummer long ball contest. That’s one of the reasons Mike Napoli, who has launched a few mammoth home runs this season, is a bit skeptical of participating in the competition if he is eventually...
