Thursday afternoon the Tigers did everything they could to lose the game before the fourth inning. Starter Rick Porcello allowed 12 hits yet only three earned runs before being knocked out of the game in the fourth not by his poor performance but by an errant line drive that struck him. Meanwhile the Tigers bats were silent as those 12 Minnesota hits all came before the Tigers even got their first off of Twins starter Scott Diamond. Yet the Tigers’ bats woke up in the later innings as Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera and Austin Jackson powered the Tigers to a 7-3 win to earn a series split with the Twins. But aside from the split, the Tigers did make history Thursday afternoon thanks in part to Rick Porcello’s shaky performance. According to Baseball-Reference.com, the Tigers are only the 6th team in Major League History to win a game despite the starter pitching less than four innings and giving up 12 or more hits. In fact it’s so rare the last time something like this happened was ...

Smyly strikes out 10 in Tigers win over Royals

DETROIT -- The Tigers aren't counting on rookie Drew Smyly to carry the team, but if he can do what he did Friday, they'd be ecstatic. Smyly (4-3) allowed just two runs on six hits while walking none and striking out 10 in the Tigers' 4-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Smyly became the first Tigers rookie with double-digit strikeouts and no walks since Eric Erickson...

You Guys See The Implants Behind Austin Jackson Last Night In Detroit?

Reader email from Ken in Coon Rapids, Minnesota: “You guys see the dumb Tigers broad flopping out her implants during 5th inn. of last night’s game? Kid Rock’s sister.” Yep, went straight to our MLB TV account and there she was. Kid Rock’s sister flopping out her boobs, but it sure looks like a bikini under that half-shirt to us. Looks like a Detroit entry to have a breast...

Game 2012.83: Twins at Tigers

40-42, 3rd place, 4.5 games behind CWS. JV turned in just the performance that the Tigers needed last night, tossing a complete game 4 hitter in the 5-1 win. Incredibly, he only needed 78 pitches to get through 7 innings, and only because of a few long ABs in the 8th did his pc escalate to 115. JV was efficient early on and pitched to contact, before logging more Ks later in the...

Tigers 7, Twins 3

Prince Fielder hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning to break a tie and Delmon Young followed with a solo shot to lift the Detroit Tigers to a 7-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday and a split of the four-game series. Miguel Cabrera's RBI single for Detroit in the eighth tied it 3-all. The hit scored Austin Jackson, who tripled with one out before pinch hitter Quintin...

Royals-Tigers Preview

(AP) -- The Detroit Tigers are slowly starting to win against left-handed starters - but not thanks to Ryan Raburn. The Tigers are expected to stick with the struggling Raburn in Friday night's opener of a three-game home set with the Kansas City Royals. In a quirk of scheduling, Detroit (41-42) is in the midst of what will be five straight contests in which the opposing starter...
