According to Jack Magruder of FOXSportsArizona.com, the Tigers and Diamondbacks have discussed a trade involving infielders Stephen Drew and Jhonny Peralta.
The Tigers have been interested in Drew before and are one of many teams inquiring on him this season. The 29-year-old Drew has been struggling somewhat this season though hitting just .214/.274/.286 in 62 plate appearances since returning from an ankle injury. He will also become a free agent at the end of the season.
Peralta on the other hand is 30-years-old and has hit .271/.337/.415 in 333 plate appearances this year. Unlike Drew though Peralta has a $6MM club option ($500K buyout) for 2013.
Despite the rumor Magruder believes the trade is a long-shot.
