Going into the game last night there was a collective feeling of cautious optimism enveloping Tiger town. While we knew that our Detroit Tigers would have Justin Verlander at the helm, we also knew that we were going into the game down 3-1 to the Texas Rangers. Jim Leyland also declared that Jose Valverde and Joaquin Benoit were inactive for the game so he was really going to rely on his ace. There was hope that Verlander could deliver yet another Tiger victory the way he had done all season, however as Tiger’s fans, we could not shake the skepticism of the Rangers finding a way to burst our little bubble of hope.
The Rangers opened up the scoring in the first inning after Ian Kinsler led off with a double and was then driven in by Josh Hamilton. Right out of the gate, the feeling was dismal. Verlander seemed to have gotten into a groove for the next few innings as he did not allow another hit until the fifth when the Rangers added another run. The Tiger’s offense ...
