Still a somewhat dead period in baseball, might as well discuss any rumor out there, eh?
Veteran infielder, Jamey Carroll, is strongly considering the Detroit Tigers for his club of choice in 2012. The 37-year old had played on four teams in his 9-year career, and is looking for everyday playing time with his fifth. The Tigers may be able to offer such a role. Carroll’s agent, Jonathan Mauer, seems to think highly of Detroit.
“The Tigers are a great organization, right now, we’re considering all clubs.”
Certainly a lot of clubs could be interested in a Jamey Carroll. He can play all over the infield, defend well anywhere on the infielder, and can get on-base at a decent clip. The Tigers had a revovling door at 2nd base in 2011. Ramon Santiago was the primary 2nd baseman, while Carlos Guillen played the majority of it when he was healthy. Guillen is unlikely to return to the Tigers, and Santiago is better off served as a utility infielder, not an everyday one....
