Tigers reliever Al Alburquerque entered Sunday’s tied Game Two of the ALDS against the A’s with runners on first and third.  He precisely got the A’s third hitter Yoenis Cespedes to ground back to the box for the third out.  Obviously a little pumped up and grateful that he got a weak ground ball, Alburquerque showed his emotions by kissing the baseball before flipping it to first baseman Prince Fielder for the third out.  Our good buddy @WorldofIsaac was quick on the recording finger:

The A’s, especially outfielder Josh Reddick, weren’t happy with the display.   ”I didn’t appreciate it.  I thought that was immature. It was not very professional. That’s all I got to say about it.”

He didn’t shove it in Cespedes’ face.  He didn’t dance with any over-the-top hand gestures and yank his jersey out of his pants a la Tigers closer Jose Valverde.  Why hasn’t Reddick made a big deal about that?

Odds are, it’s frustrations spilling over in this case.  The A’s had a chance to even the series today and didn’t.  Now, they must go back to Oakland and win three in a row to advance to the ALCS.  Was Reddick trying to fire up his troops?  Maybe.  But Joshie boy, it’s water under the bridge, buddy.  This series is over.
