MLB Injury News:
The Tigers, having missed out on Francisco Rodriguez, have set there sights on a different reliever. They sent two scouts to the Brewers-Padres game and have their eyes on one particular reliever.
The Tigers, according to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, have "continued" interest in Padres relief pitcher Luke Gregerson. Morosi also mentioned Huston Street, Dale Thayer and Joe Thatcher as potential fits, but didn't say if the Tigers were interested in the relievers. On July 21, Morosi tweeted that the Tigers had made "initial inquiries" with the Padres about their relievers, so the Tigers' interest in the Padres relievers isn't new.
Gregerson, 29, is a good reliever. In his four full years at the big league level, Gregerson hasn't had an ERA above 3.25, which is very good. He is pitching very well this year, as his ERA is 2.85.
The Padres, who were once thought of to be buyers, are now likely sellers. They have some solid pieces in their bullpen, so expect more teams to inquire with the Padres about their relievers. The Tigers, as of now, just have interest in Gregerson. Morosi didn't mention the Padres and Tigers talking about Gregerson, so don't expect a deal to be imminent. Gregerson makes sense as a potential fit with the Tigers. He likely wouldn't close, but he would be a solid option for them in the 7th or 8th inning.

While going 0-2 in my men’s league baseball game (considered a success), news of the Baltimore Orioles acquiring RHP Francisco Rodriguez permeated through the bench. My first thought was, a relief pitcher? Then as I stood out in left field, hoping I wouldn’t have to test my depleted arm I thought, a move like this makes the most sense.
The Orioles were not going...
