The latest name to join the Detroit Tigers rumor mill as the trade deadline nears is that of Seattle’s left-hander Erik Bedard.
SI.com’s Jon Heyman has tweeted that the Tigers and Red Sox are making inquiries on the oft-injured lefty.

Bedard is currently on the disabled list, as he has been so often during his tumultuous career. He is scheduled to make his first start back this coming Friday, leaving just enough time for the Tigers or Sox to jump on the bandwagon and make a deadline deal.
Bedard, 32, is on a one-year deal with the Mariners, meaning he’d be little more than a 2-month rental if the Tigers reached out and plucked him from the M’s.
