Chris Tillman has become the pitcher the Orioles can depend on.
Tillman worked seven exceptional innings allowing just two hits and winning his 13th game of the season.
His great outing enabled the Orioles to break their three-game losing streak with a 6-0 win over the Boston Red Sox before 39063 at Oriole Park on Friday night.
The Orioles (58-46) had been held to six runs in their last three losses in Kansas City but quickly got their bats busy against John Lackey (7-8).
The offense was great the fielding top-notch but Tillman was even better.
“He was a difference-maker tonight” manager Buck Showalter said. “He’s certainly developing quite a track record.”
Tillman (13-3) has won 10 games since May 24 and with more than two months left in the season is already the team’s biggest winner since Erik Bedard won 13 in 2007.
“If we stay in this and continue to compete it will be because of pitching and people like Chris" Showalter said.
Since the Orioles were here last Tillman...
