Tim Tebow helped make a bad situation better for a fan. Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

Another day, another story that proves Tim Tebow is an all-around good guy who treats fans well. Although there was some pain involved on behalf of the fan who later became the benefactor of Tebow’s thoughtfulness.

Tebow, currently playing with the Columbia Fireflies, the New York Mets’ Low Class-A affiliate, had an inadvertent throw into the stands during Tuesday’s game drill a fan straight in the nether-regions.

Doug Brustman, 45, was sitting in his seat behind the visitor’s dugout of the Lakewood Blue Claws’ FirstEnergy Park alongside 13-year-old daughter Morgan, a huge Tebow fan, when the ballplayer’s errant throw during warmups drilled him in the groin.

“They were warming up and throwing in front us, and I wasn’t paying attention,” Brustman said, via the New York Post.

Brustman, in the immediate aftermath of the incident that caused him much discomfort, managed to ask who threw the ball.

“It was literally like a Seinfeld episode. The guy behind me shouts, ‘It was TEBOW,’” said Brustman. “It reminded me of his days with the Jets when he couldn’t complete a pass. This guy is so inaccurate, even with a baseball.”

After a Fireflies representative quickly checked on Brustman’s status, Tebow walked over and autographed the ball, along with two books his daughter had brought along should the opportunity to meet Tebow arise.

Brustman joked that Tebow purposely drilled him with the ball because he was sporting a cap in support of the Tennessee Volunteers, one of Tebow’s chief gridiron rivals during his days quarterbacking the Florida Gators.

“I said, ‘I think you saw my hat and beaned me with the ball.’ He looked at my hat, laughed and fist-bumped me,” Brustman said.

In the end, Brustman walked — or perhaps limped — away a newly minted Tebow fan.

“He didn’t have to come over. How can you hate him? He’s almost too good to be true,” Brustman said.

That may be true of Tebow as a person, but one MLB scout doesn’t think that carries over to Tebow as a baseball player, for what it's worth.
