Told ya all that All-Star campaigning crap was a waste of time. I told you that Chicago White Sox and their fans’ mindless jingoism and lemming behavior to vote Jake Peavy into the Midsummer classic was for naught- not because he finished second in the voting, but because I knew HE WOULD GET THERE ANYWAY. As an injury replacement.

And he did. This is the third All-Star nod for Peavy; first since 2007, first in the AL.

From CBS Sports:

starting pitcher C.J. Wilson will be unavailable to pitch in Tuesday’s All-Star Game. Thus, the AL team gets to add an injury replacement, and it’s White Sox starting pitcher Jake Peavy, the White Sox have announced.

Peavy, 31, is enjoying a huge career resurgence this season, as he finally appears recovered from the surgery he had to reattach his lat muscle to its insertion point in his shoulder. He is 7-5 with a 2.85 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 120 innings. He has 103 strikeouts, four complete games and one shutout.
