Photo courtesy the San Francisco Chronicle. Phillies new catching prospect just joined Jim Bowden and Casey Stern on Sirius XM MLB Network Radio and offered his excitedment and a few details.  It appears that Joseph will join the Reading Phillies first, and he is excited to be on the team. "I'm sad obviously because I'm leaving people...I'm estactic about joining the Phillies..a great organization, outstanding people." The Phillies have Carlos Ruiz and Sebastian Valle. What does this mean for Joseph? "It's great for me because I'm going to get to learn from one of the best in the game". Ruben Amaro himself called Joseph. "I have talked to Ruben, he congratulated me; he just told me he's excited to have me and it made me feel good about being here." Sebastian Valle could be going to AAA Lehigh Valley because Joseph is joining the AA Reading Phillies today.  It turns out, he just has several feet to go. "They...

Philadelphia Phillies deal Hunter Pence and Shane Victorino

The Philadelphia Phillies have begun the retooling process. It could hardly be called a rebuilding process following the six year, 144 million dollar extension they gave to Cole Hamels. For the time being, the Phillies have more than 90 million committed to their top three pitchers and Ryan Howard. The extension began wide speculation that the Phillies would begin to...

Victorinos thank Phillies fans with ad

Shane Victorino may have driven some of us crazy time to time with his play, but the man is a true class act. He took out this full-page ad in tomorrow's Philadelphia Daily News. I'm shocked he got this out so fast. Bob Ventrone, Jr. shared the picture on his Facebook page that I noticed thanks to Phillies Beat Writer Kevin Cooney on Twitter. Speaking of Twitter, Shane...

Giants Acquire Hunter Pence

After days of rumors and speculation, the Giants have finally acquired outfielder Hunter Pence. Heading to Philadelphia are Nate Schierholtz and a pair of prospects — Tommy Joseph and Seth Rosin. Hunter Pence, 29, is under team control through the end of 2013, but is set to make nearly $15M next season. More on this later…

O'Donnell was right after all, Pence to Giants

A couple nights ago, Dennis O'Donnell of KPIX twittered about that the Giants "have acquired Hunter Pence". It started a wildfire of retweets (re-posts for you old people not on Twitter), by everyone and their mother, including Andy Baggarly of CSN.  With fans going nuts over this apparent news, KPIX ran the story even after Baggarly had confirmed with Bobby...

Odds the Phillies Trade Cliff Lee to the Rangers? "Less than One Percent" or 25%. Pick oneC

T.R. Sullivan, who broke the story when the Phillies signed Cliff Lee prior to last season, believes there is a "less than one percent chance" that the Rangers and Phillies make a deal, though they have talked: The latest word on Cliff Lee is that the Phillies are willing to talk about him. Don’t look for him to be traded to Texas. An industry source said the chances...

Phillies throw up white flag for 2012, expected, but still surprising

Say goodbye to 2012. Atlanta did that with a sweep of the Phillies this past weekend, and what dagger the Braves did, Phillies GM Ruben Amaro twisted inside the belly of Phillies fans. OK, gone are Hunter Pence and Shane Victorino. Coming in are outfielder Nate Schierholtz and minor-league prospects Tommy Joseph, a catcher, and Seth Rosin, a righthanded pitcher (from the Giants for...

Phillies Active at Deadline Moving Salary and Picking Up Bullpen Help

Reading the headline on the newyorkdailynews.com “It’s a fire sale in Philadelphia….”, is a reality we all should have seen coming. The “fire sale” at the trade deadline moved long time fan favorite Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence the one year fan favorite both to the West Coast. Mets 2, Giants 1

Jonathon Niese scattered three hits over seven innings and Ruben Tejada homered for the first time in almost two years and singled twice, leading the New York Mets past the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Wednesday night. All San Francisco could squeeze out of Niese (8-5) was a two-out homer by Buster Posey in the sixth, the All-Star catcher's 14th long ball this season. Niese struck...

The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded two pitching prospects to the Phillies for Shane Victorino. Just days after Philadelphia locked up Cole Hamels to a $144 million extension, the Phillies unloaded their centerfielder to Los Angeles just a few hours before the deadline.
