The Cleveland Indians today announced Carolina infielder Tony Wolters has been named the Indians Minor League Player of the Week, May 21 – May 27. Wolters, 19, hit .429 (9-21) with two walkks, two doubles and a RBI throughout the week, while posting a 1.002 OPS (.478 on-base pct, .524 slugging pct.).  On May 21 at Frederick, Wolters went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI and his first three-hit game of the season on May 26. Over the course of the week, he raised his batting average over 30 points from .191 to the current .222 mark. For the 2012 season, he is batting .222 (35-158) with 20 runs scored, 9 doubles, one triple, one home run and 16 RBI while stealing 4 bases in 8 attempts and posting a .619 OPS (.309 on-base pct., .310 slugging pct.). Wolters was the Indians 3rd round selection (87th overall) in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Rancho Buena Vista HS in California.  He entered the 2012 season as the No. 7 ranked prospect in the Indians organization according to Baseball America. In 2011, he led the New York-Penn League in runs scored (50), was tied for 5th in hits (78), 10th in stolen bases (19) and tied for 11th in batting average (.292).   He was on the Team USA Under18 national squad in both 2009 and 2010, a team that captured the gold medal in the Pan Am Junior Games in 2009.  In 2010 he was a teammate of 2011 first round pick Francisco Lindor.
