Top Mariners Promotions of 2009

I love me some Mariner's promotions. Some of my fondest memories of childhood come from going to Mariner's games and expecting something free. I vividly remember standing in line as a kid waiting in line for a signature Ken Griffey Jr. bat.  I also remember standing in line for a stupid beanie baby. A "Moose" beanie baby specifically. My beanie baby-crazed mother made our whole family stand in line at the Kingdome so we could get the Moose in beanie baby form.

I can't believe I actually camped outside the Kingdome with my family for a damn beanie baby. And here I was a kid, foolishly thinking we would actually go to the baseball game! After receiving the beanie baby, my parents inadvertently turned around and were headed out of the stadium! Shocked, I asked them why we weren't going to the game, they replied, "We can watch it on T.V.". Honestly? FML.

Back to the topic of the day, here are my Top 6 Promotions of 2009:

1. Mariners Classic TV Commercials DVD Night #1-July 10th, Friday vs. Texas Rangers
Mariners Classic TV Commercials DVD Night #2- August 28th, Friday vs. Kansas City Royals
Okay, whoever came up with this promotion is a genius. I don't know if the commercials will just include ticket commercials, or if they will include the classic Edgar "light bat" commercial, either way, this DVD is priceless. I can't wait to get my hands on this...First 20,000 fans


2. Ken Griffey Jr. Bobblehead Night vs. Tampa Bay Rays-August 7th, Friday
Without a doubt this will be the most popular promotion of the season. For obvious reasons. I suggest that you get your tickets now, unless you want to pay an outrageous sum later...First 20,000 fans

3. Felix Hernandez Bobblehead Night vs. San Fransisco Giants-May 22nd, Friday
The bobbleheads aren't as cool as they were when they first came out. I prefer ceramic and unproportionate head bobbleheads, but a bobblehead is a bobblehead. Anything with Felix Hernandez on it is awesome. Therefore this promotion is awesome...First 20,000 fans

4. Brandon Morrow Bobblehead Night vs. Arizona Diamondbacks- June 19th, Friday
Brandon Morrow is insane. Hopefully by the time this comes out, Morrow will be a top-notch dominating young starting pitcher. Anyhow, if I'm not mistaken, this is Morrow's first promotion. This will be a hot collector's item.... First 20,00 fans

5. Ichiro Bobblehead Night vs. Detroit Tigers- April 17th, Friday
I got hella Ichiro bobbleheads, but I like the looks of this one. He looks chill, plus the his pose is nice and laid back.




6. Turn Back the Clock Night vs. Oakland A's-May 2nd, Saturday
I don't think I'll be attending this game seeing as I have to take the SAT and I have a special dance going on called Prom, but I'll probably be missing one of the greatest promotions of all-time. Not only do you recieve a sweet retro cap, but you get to see the Mariners and the A's in retro uniforms. The first 20,000 fans will receive the hat pictured below:

Note: Okay, isn't this one hell of a bobblehead line up? Ichiro-Felix-Morrow-Griffey...here is the bad news, on July 24th it is Franklin Gutierrez bobblehead night. Dead serious. Nothing against Franklin, but seriously..if the bobbleheads connect like previous years, how much does it suck to have him part of the collection? I mean he's so popular anyways right? They need to make a bobblehead of Don Wakamatsu. That would be a better option.
