There was a eerie silence hovering over Tropicana Field in Florida earlier this week as J.A. Happ, starting pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, laid motionless on the ground.  Just moments before, Happ was hit on the left side of his head by a line drive.   After medical staff got him on the stretcher, Happ waved to the crowd as he was wheeled off the field to let them know that he was okay. The news got even better for Happ the following day after he was released from the hospital.  He sustained a contusion and a laceration to his left ear.  He also sustained a minor fracture on the left side of his skull, avoiding a concussion. The Blue Jays ended up splitting the four game series against Tampa Bay.  Despite witnessing that scary moment concerning Happ, Toronto managed to beat the Rays 6-4. The Blue Jays got hammered in game three 10-4.  Ricky Romero was on the mound for the Jays.  Unfortunately, it was the same Ricky Romero from last year.  In fact, he didn’t even last a full inning.  In 0.1 innings pitched, Romero gave up four hits, three earned runs, two walks, and no strikeouts.  Edwin Encarnacion racked up three RBIs during the game. The Jays lost their fourth and final game to the Rays 5-4 in extra innings.  R.A. Dickey had a fairly good outing on the mound.  In six innings pitched, Dickey gave up five hits, two earned runs, five walks, and struck out five batters. The Blue Jays kicked off a three game series against Boston last night.  Toronto lost the first game 5-0. Today, the Jays beat the Red Sox 3-2.  Starting pitcher, Mark Buehrle gave up five hits, an earned run, two walks and struck out five batters in seven innings pitched. Adam Lind went two for four at the plate and scored three runs. Chad Jenkins is scheduled to pitch tomorrow for the Jays as Brandon Morrow continues to suffer from back spasms.
