Remember that lead-in from yesterday’s article when I said that the Indians had good success against Royals starter Luke Hochevar in two games this season? Well, he bucked that trend as the Royal righty dominated the Tribe offense for 8 innings, allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk as the Royals took the second game of the series 5-1 at Kauffman Stadium. Tribe lefty David Huff didn’t pitch nearly good enough, but the real issue was the Tribe’s inability to knock around a mediocre starter who they’ve had past success against. Hochevar looked like a new pitcher. He had allowed six earned runs in each of his two starts against Cleveland in April. However, we should have seen this coming I suppose. In his last appearance against the Tribe, he did not allow a baserunner in the first five innings, then crumbled after a pair of balks in the sixth that allowed the Tribe to jumpstart the offense.
