Justin Morneau homered for the first time in almost two months, a two-run shot that helped the Minnesota Twins to a 7-4 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night.
Morneau's third homer of the season followed an RBI single by Josh Willingham in the sixth off Deunte Heath after White Sox ace Chris Sale's night ended after five shaky innings. Morneau last went deep on April 28. The 2006 AL MVP has three seasons of 30-plus homers.
Brian Dozier reached base four times for the Twins, including a three-run homer in the second against Sale (5-6).
Glen Perkins pitched a perfect ninth for the second game in a row, recording his 18th save in 20 tries, after Kevin Correia (6-4) pitched into the seventh.

If you do a Google search on baseball's worst contracts and look them over, Joe Mauer's name comes up a lot. Heck, even Head and Shoulders gave up on him. And the famous, "Well played, Mauer," commercial seems far in the past. All of that is because of the contract Mauer signed. And that happens a lot. You heard it when Beltran played for the Mets. You have heard...

MINNEAPOLIS -- Brian Dozier isn't necessarily known as a power hitter, but the Twins second baseman flexed his muscles Thursday.
Dozier hit his sixth home run of the season, which now has him tied for fourth on the team this year. It was just a sampling of what Minnesota's offense did Thursday as the Twins homered four times in their 8-4 win over the White Sox in the series...

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins announced Wednesday that they have signed first-round pick Kohl Stewart, the fourth overall pick in this month's Major League Baseball Draft.
According to Jim Callis of Baseball America, the Twins signed Stewart for 4,544,400, which was right around the slot value for the fourth pick.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Kohl Stewart is a multi-sport athlete, and it turns out he's pretty good at both sports.
That's evident by the fact that the Texas prep pitcher was not only taken by the Minnesota Twins with the No. 4 overall pick in this month's Major League Baseball draft, but he also has a scholarship to play quarterback at Texas A&M. Many high schoolers would love...
Get that kid a uniform.
Paul Neshek, a ballboy for the Minnesota Twins, made the play of the day Thursday at Target Field, leaping out of his shoes to snare an Alexei Ramirez foul ball. Neshek didn’t exactly stick the landing, but he held onto the ball, gaining him a round of applause from fans along the third-base line.
His highlight-reel grab also impressed at least one major...
Tanner Vavra has heard the criticisms.
He would never be good enough to play college baseball, let alone professional baseball. And even if he did, he wouldn't be as good as his peers.
Even Vavra's own father had his doubts.
But earlier this month, when the Minnesota Twins took Vavra in the 30th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft, all those doubters were silenced...

The White Sox traveled to Minnesota on Tuesday, and continued on what appears to be yet another abysmal road trip for the southsiders. They have now dropped 13 of their last 15 road contests, and five of their last six. Once again, falling back to ten games below .500.

The last thing the Chicago White Sox need right now is a matchup with Kansas City Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie.
The right-hander has completely shut down Chicago since being acquired by the Royals last summer, and he'll look to add to the visiting White Sox's woes in the opener of a three-game series Friday night.
Guthrie came to Kansas City in a deal for left-hander Jonathan...
