The Minnesota Twins are giving right handed pitcher Mark Hamburger a second chance. Hamburger, 26, was suspended for 50 games after testing postie for drug use. He was released by the Houston Astros in February meaning he will have to serve the suspension before he can play. The Twins are banking on Hamburger making a turn around with his life. “I guess we’ll see,” Brad Steil, the Twins’ director of minor league operations, said Tuesday via the Pioneer Press. “You have a choice: You either take him at his word or not. I know he’s made some changes in his life and he’s looking forward to getting back with an affiliated club. I think he’s earned a second chance, so to speak.” Originally signed by the Twins out of a tryout camp in 2007, Hamburger can reach 95 on the radar gun. He has previously been used primarily as a reliever during his seven year minor league career.
