Lake Buena Vista, FL (Sports Network) – The Minnesota Twins have traded shortstop J.J. Hardy and infielder Brendan Harris to the Baltimore Orioles for minor league pitchers Jim Hoey and Brett Jacobson. The Orioles will also receive cash considerations from the Twins.
Hardy, who was traded from Milwaukee to Minnesota just last offseason, dealt with injuries in 2010, but hit .268 with six home runs and 38 RBI in 101 games.
An All-Star in 2007, Hardy had spent the first five years of his career with the Brewers, but will now play for his third team in as many seasons. The O’s are hoping Hardy will be able to replicate his offensive output from 2007 and 2008, when he hit a combined 50 home runs and had 154 RBI.
However, he has only hit 17 home runs in his last two injury-plagued seasons.
Harris batted .157 with one home run and four RBI in 43 games with the Twins last season.
The Orioles acquired slugging third baseman Mark Reynolds earlier this week.
