After Wednesday's 11-7 win over the Tigers, the Minnesota Twins announced that catcher Ryan Doumit was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right calf strain. To fill his spot on the roster, outfielder Ben Revere will be called up from Triple-A Rochester prior to Thursday's series finale in Detroit. Doumit was 2-for-3 with an RBI Wednesday but left the game after the seventh inning and was replaced by Drew Butera. After the game, manager Ron Gardenhire said Doumit "popped a calf muscle." Offensively, Doumit had been solid for the Twins this month. Through Wednesday, he was 13-for-45 with 12 RBI in 15 games in May, including four home runs. Minnesota was carrying three catchers at the time of the injury, which means it will now be Butera and Joe Mauer behind the plate. Revere has had two stints with the Twins already this season, including four games at the beginning of the season and two in late April when he was recalled to replace Josh Willingham while Willingham was on paternity leave. In 18 at-bats, he had five hits and a walk. With Rochester, Revere was batting .330 with a .360 on-base percentage. He had six stolen bases and six RBI in 23 games. With the addition of Revere, the Twins now have six outfielders: Willingham, Denard Span, Trevor Plouffe, Erik Komatsu, Darin Mastroianni and Revere.
