MINNEAPOLIS Trevor Plouffe is heading to the disabled list. Again.
On the same day the Twins third baseman was activated from the 7-day concussion DL, Plouffe injured his left calf during pregame warmups on Wednesday. He was scratched from the lineup and was not in the lineup Thursday. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Plouffe will land on the 15-day DL due to his strained calf.
Minnesota has not yet announced the move as the Twins are waiting for outfielder Chris Colabello to arrive in Minneapolis. Colabello was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday to make room for Plouffe on the 25-man roster. Now the two will flip sides again once Colabello arrives.
"We're waiting for our call-up to get here, and when he gets here we'll put him on the roster," Gardenhire said of Colabello. "He's not here yet. He's somewhere out there in flying land, trying to get here."
