The Minnesota Twins have been selected to host the 2014 MLB All-Star game.

The announcement was made by MLB Commissioner Bud Selig. The Twins have called Target Field home since the start of the 2010 season.
“This is especially meaningful to me because of my close personal and professional relationship with Carl Pohlad (passed way in 2009), who was one of the finest owners in professional sports,” Selig said. “The Midsummer Classic will be a celebration of Carl’s legacy, one of our game’s model franchises and the spectacular Target Field, which deserves to be showcased on this global stage.”
It will be the third time that the Twins have hosted this prestigious game. They hosted it in 1965 at Metropolitan Stadium and in 1985 in the Metrodome.
“It is an honor for the Minnesota Twins to be selected to host the 2014 All- Star Game at Target Field,” said Twins CEO Jim Pohlad. “The excitement of having the Midsummer Classic will permeate the Twin Cities and be a great showcase for our region and for our wonderful community asset, Target Field. My father and commissioner Selig were very close, so we are thrilled to have the commissioner at Target Field to announce an All-Star Game coming to the Twin Cities.”
