Fox Sports North:
The Minnesota Twins continue to struggle through a woeful stretch at home. With a potential return date for Joe Mauer still unclear, those struggles may very well drag on longer.
The Twins look to avoid matching the franchise's longest home losing streak in 56 years on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Minnesota (61-79) dropped its ninth straight game at Target Field on Saturday with an 11-2 loss to Toronto (66-76), which received two three-run homers from Adam Lind.
Another defeat for the Twins on Sunday would be the team's first 10-game home losing streak since Sept. 15-29, 1957, when the franchise was still known as the Washington Senators.
Not much has gone right for the Twins during the skid as they've posted a 6.11 ERA, have scored 20 runs and are batting .167 with runners in scoring position.
Mauer, who ranks third in the AL with a .324 average, hasn't played since suffering a concussion on Aug. 19. He took batting practice with the team before Saturd...

MINNEAPOLIS -- Toronto is nearly 2,000 miles away from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, where Twins pitcher Andrew Albers grew up. But there was still something special for the left-hander when he got to face the Blue Jays -- Canada's only major league team -- on Sunday at Target Field.
Just before Albers took the mound for his seventh career big league start, he got to hear the...
Heading toward another losing season, the Minnesota Twins have been left to hold out for the hope that comes from a highly regarded group of prospects.
The rookies at least provided Minnesota a temporary bright spot, but even a rare show of power wasn't enough in a loss on Friday.
Rookies Chris Colabello and Josmel Pinto homered for the Twins, but former Minnesota knuckleballer...
The Toronto Blue Jays have been successful of late, but the same can't be said for J.A. Happ.
The left-hander will try again to snap out of his slump Saturday night while helping the Blue Jays add to their dominance over the Minnesota Twins.
Toronto (65-76) held off Minnesota 6-5 in Friday's series opener for its eighth win in 11 games and fourth in five road contests....
Hopefully, the fine folks at ESPN wont sue me for sharing some of their top secret writings on ESPN Insider, but I came across an interesting article by Jim Bowden who takes a look at ten managers who are at the end of their contracts. Obviously, I was curious to see his thoughts on Terry Collins, but then I thought I’d share what he had to say about Ron Gardenhire as well.
MINNEAPOLIS -- With Triple-A Rochester's season coming to an end Sunday, that means reinforcements are headed to Minnesota.
The Twins announced after Sunday's game that they recalled seven players from Rochester: pitchers Scott Diamond, Cole De Vries, Michael Tonkin and Shairon Martis, infielder Eduardo Escobar, outfielder Chris Parmelee and catcher Eric Fryer. The Red Wings...
MINNEAPOLIS -- For years, Justin Morneau was a fixture in Minnesota's clubhouse, his locker stall occupying one of the four corner lockers.
But as the Twins returned home Friday for the start of a lengthy homestand, Morneau's locker was filled by Josh Willingham. Minnesota traded Morneau to Pittsburgh, meaning one of the Twins' proven clubhouse leaders was gone.
Following a rare setback during their outstanding run, the Los Angeles Angels appear to be in a good position to bounce back with Jered Weaver facing a team he's dominated recently.
Those Minnesota Twins are simply trying to avoid the longest home losing streak in franchise history.
Weaver looks to win his fifth straight decision against the struggling Twins on Monday night when...
MINNEAPOLIS -- Bitter, raw disappointment seeped into and throughout Target Field's home clubhouse weeks ago.
But anger is toughest to stomach when it's coupled with confusion, and that's been the emotion most apparent as the Twins' season gone wrong dwindles toward an offseason fraught with question marks.
Saturday night, Adam Lind and the Toronto Blue Jays added...
Fans usually have a straight-forward agenda upon entering a ball park.
Saskatoon’s Mike Sieben sat with his wife Whitney with a more complicated agenda in section 17 at Target Field on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
Wearing his No. 19 Jose Bautista jersey Sieben had two goals.
“I’d like to see Andrew Albers pitch real well and then the Jays win it beating up the Twins bullpen”...
On August 19, Minnesota Twins' catcher Joe Mauer took a foul tip off the bat of Ike Davis square off the top of his catcher's helmet. Mauer went to his knees, but stayed in the game. No one thought anything of it at the time, but Mauer suffered concussion-like symptoms and was placed on the 7-day disabled list. Although he may be activated soon, Mauer might not be catching...
Hello kids. It’s hot even though it’s September. No, that doesn’t make sense.
Phil Rogers in Chicago thinks Ron Gardenhire is getting axed this year.
As a kid, I was never this nice. I’m still not this nice.
The Olympics will be going back to Asia for the 2020 games. But where?!
