GM's Kevin Towers and J.P. Ricciardi were both fired today. Towers was Theo's boss in San Diego and Ricciardi was said to have been from the same "Moneyball" mold. Ricciardi was sent packing because of the failure of the Jays to keep pace with the Red Sox and Yankees. He also failed to complete a good trade to bring in some talent for Roy Halladay. Towers was fired for fielding a team that might have a losing record in AAA.
