San Francisco Giants
You know it's Spring Training When..... (fill in the blank). How many times have we heard or thought those words? Well, that's how last night's contest between San Francisco and Milwaukee felt. After tying, yes I said tying in the first of back to back games the Brewers took home their 1st victory of the Spring, winning 7-3. Starting pitcher Chirs Narveson looked sharp, retiring all six of the Giants he faced and was able to get some good work on a new pitch, the cut fastball. However the win would go to Frankie De La Cruz thanks to 2 scoreless innings of pitching and some timely hitting by the Brewers. Milwaukee won with a makeshift outfield as Ryan Braun was held out of action as part of his agreement with manager Ron Roenicke to play every other day through Spring Training and of course no Corey Hart in Right Field, where Nyjer Morgan started on Monday. This game also saw the limited return of Rickie Weeks to the lineup as he was the DH in this game. He got off...
BEST OF MAXIM
PHOENIX Corey Hart was back in the clubhouse Wednesday morning at Maryvale Baseball Park, on crutches following surgery a day prior to repair his torn right meniscus.
News that he would need surgery was disappointing for Hart, who also missed almost all of spring training a year ago with an oblique injury, but after undergoing the procedure and learning the severity of the injury...
PHOENIX While the rest of the Milwaukee Brewers prepare for an exhibition contest against Oakland at Maryvale Baseball Park on Tuesday, Corey Hart will be in suburban Glendale to undergo surgery on his right knee.Meeting with reporters Monday, Hart said he thinks he may have suffered the injury Feb. 24 when he slipped while making his way to Ryan Braun's nationally televised...
Ryan Braun may have won his appeal, but he has lost plenty of fans. He will not be punished in any way for allegedly testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone, but the issue was one with the handling of the sample rather than the results themselves. Braun may not have taken anything illegal, but it certainly looks like he’s fortunate somebody failed to do their job properly...
PHOENIX The start of Cactus League play is welcomed by players and fans alike. Fans look forward to the chance to welcome back baseball for another year by soaking in the Arizona sun while players embrace the opportunity to hone their skills against real, live competition for the first time.
And while an official score is kept and victories and losses are recorded, spring training...
General Manager Doug Melvin earned his salary prior to the 2012 season by making all the right moves while guiding the team to a club record 96 wins and NL Central title. The Brewers fell just two wins short of a World Series berth, losing to the eventual World Series champion Cardinals in six games. This offseason was much quieter, but likely more stressful for the Brewers as they...
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Corey Hart will undergo surgery Tuesday to repair torn cartilage in his right knee.Hart is having the procedure done in Glendale, Ariz. by Dr. Evan Lederman and Dr. William Raasch at Arrowhead Hospital. The 29-year-old will need at least three weeks to rehab after the procedure and could miss the start of the season.Hart batted .285 with 26 home runs and...
The Milwaukee Brewers got more bad news as Corey Hart joins Rickie Weeks among the injured. Hart will miss 3 to 4 weeks as he will have orthopedic surgery on his right knee. Hart is in jeopardy of missing the start of the season but should be back by mid April.
Hart will miss all of the Spring Training games so he will probably be placed on the 15 game disabled list to start the...
PHOENIX Corey Hart underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, and the procedure was successful, leaving his estimated return sometime in the range of 3 to 4 weeks.Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said the news was good and that Hart would begin his rehabilitation as early as Wednesday."Dr. (William) Raasch is pretty confident with what he did, Roenicke...
Thankfully this game didn't count the standings as the Brewers saw a combination of bad offense and bad defense propel them to their first defeat of Spring Training, losing 6-0 to the Oakland A's. The Brewers allowed the A's 14 hits and committed 4 errors that led to 4 runs in the loss. Credit to Tom Milone who led the A's pitching staff today, going three innings...
Milwaukee Brewers will finally win a championship in Wisconsin. It’s going to happen this year and it’s going to be amazing. Like the super bowl for two weeks. It’s going to be off the hook crazy.
So, you don’t believe it. I understand. We haven’t won one yet…and we lost Prince.
But hell, it’s Spring. Hope is here. Hell, losersbracket.com lifted the...
Jake Peavy was pleased with his performance after allowing three runs and four hits in a two-inning spring debut for the Chicago White Sox, a 10-6 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.
Hoping to make more than 30 starts for the first time since 2007, Peavy said he focused on fastball command, throwing few breaking pitches. He struck out two, walked none, hit a batter and threw...
Jemile Weeks had two hits and tackled his older brother Rickie to end a rundown, helping the Oakland Athletics beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-0 on Tuesday.
Oakland left-hander Tommy Milone pitched three innings of one-hit ball. Milone is one of four players acquired from Washington for right-hander Gio Gonzalez on December 23.
Milone walked Rickie Weeks to lead off the game but picked...
Matt Cain pitched two scoreless innnings in his spring debut for San Francisco before the Milwaukee Brewers rallied to beat the Giants 7-3 Monday night.
Travis Ishikawa and Zelous Wheeler homered and Chris Narveson threw two scoreless innings for the Brewers, who trailed 3-0 after five innings.
Aubrey Huff homered and Gregor Blanco stole two bases and scored twice for the Giants...
