The St. Louis Cardinals and Arizona Diamondbacks played the longest game in Chase Field history Wednesday night. At some point during the marathon affair, one fan in particular wanted to make a little history of his own by proposing to his girlfriend.Watch as the guy uses a ring box disguised as a baseball to help pop the big question. She seems to be a little embarrassed by the fact that the whole stadium is staring at her on the jumbotron, but nonetheless, she says anyway. It turns out the happy couple had a joyful night in more ways than one.It took a whopping 16 innings, or five and a half hours, but the D'backs finally put away the Cardinals by a tally of 10-9, thus sending the patient crowd home happy.Via The Big Lead

Q&A: Archie Bradley, Future D-Backs Ace

Archie Bradley misses bats. The Arizona Diamondbacks pitching prospect averaged 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings last year in the Midwest League. It wasn’t a fluke. Drafted seventh overall in 2011 out of Broken Arrow [Oklahoma] High School, the now-20-year-old right-hander has the best fastball in the D-Backs’ system — and a plus curveball. He also misses the strike zone. At...

These D-backs are built for the long haul, and they made the biggest financial moves in franchise history over the offseason to prove it. Diamondbacks Showcase Trio Of Power Hitting Prospects

Stryker Trahan, Matt Davidson and Chris Owings each flashed plus power for their respective positions at Salt River Fields in Arizona. For Owings, it was a line drive home run to right-center field in his first at bat of the Triple-A game. Davidson just missed barreling an outside fastball, but was still able to drive it to base of the right field wall. Trahan belted multiple shots...

During a recent broadcast of an Arizona Diamondbacks-St. Louis Cardinals game, the announcing crew for the D-Backs spent several minutes of air time obsessing over a young man seated behind the Cardinals dugout who kinda looks like Justin Bieber but not really. McCarthy set for Diamondbacks debut

By NICOLINO DIBENEDETTO STATS Writer Lance Lynn was a revelation for the St. Louis Cardinals for most of last year, and he feels he's much more prepared in 2013. He's certainly a lot lighter. The trimmed-down right-hander looks to begin proving his first full season in the majors wasn't a fluke, as he tries to lead the Cardinals to a second straight victory over the...

2013′s First Pitches in Review

Some time ago, Brandon McCarthy asked a question about first pitches of seasons. McCarthy is neat and fun and smart and good and he recently dropped a FanGraphs reference in an article, so we pay attention to McCarthy, and to his question we issued a response. McCarthy was asking about offspeed frequency with the first pitch of a season. Turns out offspeed pitches are almost never...
