It may not have been the farthest home run hit on Monday night, but Mark Trumbo’s sixth home run in the first round of the 2012 home run derby was an amazing shot. The home run landed on top of a building/scoreboard in deep left field, causing the fans and fellow players to errupt in cheers.

Prince Fielder won the event for the second time in his career, while becoming the first person to win the derby for both the American and National league. Joey Bautista of the Toronto Blue Jays came in second with seven home runs in the final round at Kaufman Stadium.

VIDEO: Mark Trumbo launches a Trumbomb over the scoreboard on his way to a third place finish at the Home Run Derby

Mark Trumbo didn't win it all at tonight's Home Run Derby, but he definitely put on a show.  There were Trumbombs a plenty, but the one that stood out amonst them all was his blast that landed on top of the big scoreboard in left field of Kauffman Stadium. Trout's arrival kick-started Angels into contention

The Los Angeles Angels' first half featured an old double-play combo. "We've been, in the first half, like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," manager Mike Scioscia said Sunday. "We know the really poor start that we got off to. We also know the untapped potential that was in this team early. We're seeing it start to surface." The Texas Rangers -- with the...

Zack Grienke is a man in demand this summer and, if the Brewers decide to ship him out before the trade deadline, could be commanding a handsome return. The Angels and Rangers have jumped into the fray, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, joining the Orioles and the Braves in their interest in the right-hander. Greinke, 28, is set to become a free agent after the season ends...

Looking at the Angels trade chips for the deadline

We spend so much time combing through the rumors mill looking for players that the Angels can acquire at the trade deadline, but seldom ever do we fans actually think about what our team has to offer.  This is a problem not unique to the Angels, just about every fan base is guilty of it and why we see so many stupid fan trade proposals out there (Castro and Garza for Trout, really...

How does it feel, rest of baseball?  Finally, the Angels are on the positive end of having an unknown starter come in and baffle the lineup based sheerly on being an unknown quantity. Mike Trout couldn't have enjoyed a better night for his first All-Star Game. The Angels rookie got a single off New York Mets knuckleballer RA Dickey, stole a base and caught a fly ball in left field. All in all, he couldn't have asked for anything more. Trout and teammates Jered Weaver and Mark Trumbo all got playing time Tuesday, as did Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw...

MLB Midseason Awards

The first half of the baseball season has come and gone, and so we pour out some of our malt beverage and bow our heads in silence in honor of the eighty-five or so games that have passed for each team. Or we could just pick some mid-season awards. THE WHY-DID-THEY-WAIT-SO-LONG-TO-CALL-HIM-UP AWARD (ROOKIES) American League: Mike Trout – Los Angeles Angels National League: Bryce...

David Ortiz knows how to have a good time at the All-Star Game, and he's no slouch at the Home Run Derby, either. Big Papi wore a Looxcie camera during Monday's festivities for WEEI.com and the footage offers a first-person look at Jose Bautista putting on a show. It's no Being John Malkovich, but it's still pretty cool to see what Papi is seeing as he makes his way...
