Found April 29, 2013 on Redlegs Review:
Your browser does not support iframes. The Reds did well to avoid being swept by the Washington Nationals Sunday by taking game four of the series, 5-2. Rookie southpaw Tony Cingrani picked up his second career win in only his third career start while Aroldis Chapman notched his fifth save of the campaign. So, at least the Reds can head into Monday night with some sort of momentum against St. Louis. But during the game on Sunday, an odd spectacle occurred when Nationals reliever Henry Rodriguez nearly got hit by the ball from his own pitch! The moment came in the top of the eighth inning after Rodriguez uncorked a wild one to Corky Miller. As you can see, the ball gets past the catcher, ricochets off the backstop behind the plate, and then nearly strikes Rodriguez in the head as it flies back toward the pitcher's mound. No harm, no foul, but it's something I've never seen before and maybe you hadn't either.

Pitcher nearly hit by ball ricocheting off backstop

A frustrating 5-2 loss for the Nats on Sunday against the Reds, and Adam LaRoche continues to simply not hit. But Henry Rodriguez was like a little ray of comedic sunshine on an otherwise gray and gloomy day in Washington when he nearly hit Corky Miller with a pitch in the 8th, then followed that up with a pitch that ricocheted off the backstop and nearly hit him in the head. Enjoy...

Cincinnati Reds Monday Minor League Scouting Notebook

Daniel Corcino Daniel Corcino has struggled so far in 2013 for the Louisville Bats. His stats will point out just how much as he has a 10.29 ERA in 14 innings with 10 walks and 14 strikeouts.
