I’m not prone to hysterical hyperbole (of course I am), but the first inning of Stephen Strasburg’s ML debut looks like he might win the Cy Young Award this year. OK, ok…fine…he won’t even win NL ROY (that’s either Castro or Colvin…the ‘C&C Hitting Factory’, as I’m now calling them…someone trademark that for me, please). But he showed a four-seamer with movement at 99 on the inside corner, a devastating 12-6 knee buckling hook and an 80 change just off the black.

C’mon…even the most cynical among us (usually me, dammit) can see something special in Stephen Strasburg. They even activated the first-ballot HOF backstop to catch him.

But Costas should really lighten up on the Walter Johnson comparisons.
