Mlb-all-star-futures-game
This years MLB rookies of the year are.....definetley going to be in a close race. Frontrunner in the A.L. is my overall favorite player Mike Trout who I believe is going to be one of the greatest  players of this decade. Now in the N.L. , which is less publicized, my vote would have to go to Padres first basemen Yonder Alonso. Looking at both leagues competition, the stats show that both of these young guns have a huge upside to improve their teams' chances this year. Mike Trout a first year All-Star, is hitting an astonishing .333 batting average with runners on base while carrying an overall slugging percentage in July of .795! On the other hand, Yonder Alonso is having a better than average rookie season with an overall .262 batting average. If you compare the two, my pick for overall MLB rookie of the year is Mike Trout. In my opinion he has the chance of running for A.L. MVP in his rookie season which would prove his raw talent. Not to be overlooked, ya that guy Harper fro...

Enough with the contrived Mike Trout nicknames already

Stop it, America.  Just stop it. When the baseball loving free world isn't busy trying to figure out which Hall of famer Trout best compares to, they are busy trying to fabricate a nickname for the phenom. The Millville Meteor?  Maybe if it was 1947. The Franchise?  How very original. The Natural?  Original to the nth degree, but also the nickname of the best player of...

Comerica Park Bomb Threat Can't Keep Mike Trout, Angels Offense From Exploding Against Tigers

The puns are way too easy to make, but Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim hit some bombs on Tuesday night at Comerica Park. It's fortunate that their offensive explosion was able to take place, though, as the game went off without a hitch despite a bomb threat against Comerica Park in Detroit. The Detroit Free Press reports that the bomb threat was called in to...

Trout (four hits, HR) powers Angels

Mike Trout had another four-hit game for Los Angeles, including a 430-foot homer that was part of an early power show in the Angels' 13-0 rout of the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night. Trout, Mark Trumbo and Albert Pujols all homered off Jacob Turner in the first two innings, and Alberto Callaspo and Kendrys Morales went deep later in the game. It was the fourth four-hit game...

Is There a Harper and Trout Remix?

I want to hate Bryce Harper and Mike Trout.  Maybe if they played for the Tigers I’d love them but two guys that young, that talented and that successful who aren’t on my team?  Honestly, I really want to dislike them. With Trout it’s a little harder because somehow he comes across as a good guy and great teammate despite only being 20 years old.  Harper, it’s a little...

Five Angels go deep in rout of Tigers

DETROIT (AP) -- Earlier this week, Mike Trout had a chance to meet Al Kaline, the Hall of Famer who played for the Detroit Tigers and won a batting title in 1955 when he was 20 years old. After another four-hit night, Trout looks like he's on his way to a similar feat. Trout raised his American League-leading average to .355 on Tuesday night with the fourth four-hit game of...

Top Play: Curtis Granderson Robs Mike Trout

Curtis Granderson made the catch of the day by robbing fellow center fielder Mike Trout of extra bases on Sunday. Trout launched a 2-1 pitch deep to center field that appeared to be destined for extra bases, as Granderson was shading the Angels top prospect to right center field. After a long run to track the ball down, Granderson made a stellar catch at the warning track just before...

Angels' Trout and Trumbo have emerged as dangerous duo

When the season started, the Los Angeles Angels thought they might have the makings of a dynamic duo in their lineup -- free agent signee Albert Pujols and comeback player Kendrys Morales, returning after a nearly two-year recovery from a fractured ankle. They do indeed have one of the best 1-2 combinations in the American League, but it is rookie Mike Trout and young slugger Mark...

Who would you rather start a Franchise with? Bryce Harper or Mike Trout?

Chicago Tribune You could say as of now, 2012 is the year of the phenom in the MLB. Bryce Harper and Mike Trout have taken the league by storm with their skills on the diamond. Harper was taken 1st overall in 2010 by the Washington Nationals. Trout was taken 25th overall in the 2009 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels. They’re one year removed in the age category with Trout being...

Generation Next: Top Ten Outfielders 25 and Under

We could separate outfielders into separate positions, but quite frankly not every position has enough players to make the list of five. When we make it ten outfielders for the three position we really see a compelling list of outfielders. The best two young players in the game happen to be in the outfield. They are both center fielders, so center field is obviously...

Padres 8, Astros 2

Yonder Alonso and the San Diego Padres' hitters are showing some signs of life. Alonso hit a two-run homer and had three RBIs, and Ross Ohlendorf pitched six innings to help the San Diego Padres beat the Houston Astros 8-2 Tuesday night. Alexi Amarista and Cameron Maybin each had three hits for the Padres, , who have scored seven or more runs in three of four games. '...

Padres 8, Astros 4

Yonder Alonso went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and the San Diego Padres used a five-run fourth inning to beat the Houston Astros 8-4 on Wednesday. Clayton Richard (7-10) allowed four runs in 8 1-3 innings to snap a two-game losing streak. The left-hander gave up nine hits, including two home runs by Matt Downs and struck out two. Richard added an RBI double in the sixth. The Padres won...

Padres prove too much for Astros

Angels Player Power Rankings - Week 15

As always, the rankings are based on a player's overall season performance with a weight on recent performance. RANK PLAYER CHANGE COMMENTS 1 -- 0Last Week: 1 Mike Trout - Between the All-Star Game and then the series in New York, I think I speak for us all when I say that we'ver had more than enough "Mike Trout idolized Derek Jeter" stories to...

Game Recap 7/17/12: Easy Riders - Angels 13 Tigers 0

Don't double take too hard now, but the Angels have finally gotten a real quality start off of a starter other than Weaver and Wilson. Yes technically Santana's game yesterday was logged in as a quality start, but with the way he constantly kept his team in hot water even with the offense trying their hardest to give him a comfortable lead. Garrett Richards has a lot to thank...
